Here at Avondale Heights, we have a small group of characters - characters who are around partially to keep the party going and the plot moving. It is not necessary that you play a canon character, but eventually, we would like to have all of our canon characters taken and actively played. Here's a list of all our canon characters with a very brief, very vague outline of who they are:
*Lily Bennett (38) - Lily grew up in the town, as did her parents and grandparents. In high school, she played tennis and ran track. She was the town's sweetheart - amicable, loveable, and fun. She was always a bit of a wild child, but her family name and personality usually got her out of any hot water with the law or the town. Until she got pregnant. Despite what the town would say, she went to prom, graduation, etc. with her big pregnant belly sticking out for the world to see, and a month after she graduated, she had her daughter, Addison. Addison's father and Lily's on again, off again boyfriend left for college, but Lily stayed in town to raise her daughter around her friends and family because she knew she would need the help. This decision was also a shocker. Teenage girls in this town were not supposed to get pregnant in the first place. But "flaunting" your pregnancy the way Lily did, along with her decision to keep and raise her baby by herself, was absolutely scandalous, or so they thought. Because of her own youth, Lily is able to understand her now 16 year old daughter better than most parents can. She is open with Addison about almost everything because her own mother wasn't able to talk openly with her about anything. However, she can also see things through the eyes of her mother. She understands a parent's need to protect their child from any and all bad thinsg that might cross their path.
Addison Bennett (16) - Addison is Lily's daughter. Despite what everyone thought, Addison has turned out extremely well. She is extremely level-headed, incredibly open-minded, and more thoughtful than most of her peers. She loves to write, and writes editorials for the school newspaper. She tends to calm down her passionate and fiery peers, and can also give parents and incling into their childrens' mentality, if only for a short time. She is the voice of reason for both sides, even though she never wanted to be.
Scarlett McCay (17) - Scarlett is the daughter of Dr. Stratton McCay, a high ranking ER doctor in the town. After her parents divorced, she moved to Key West with the mother and brother, and quickly got into trouble. She got addicted to drugs, got caught, but got out of trouble when her dad paid off the D.A. in Key West if Scarlett and her mother agreed that Scarlett would move to Avondale Heights. She is a party girl, a wild child, an impulsive rebel who does things just so she won't be bored. The older generation in Avondale Heights dislikes her and thinks of her as a bad influence who should be sent back from where she came.
*Matt McCay (18) - Matt is Scarlett's older brother. He is the exact opposite of his sister. He is calm, rational, and always looks before he leaps. When he found out that Scarlett was moving in with their father, Matt decided to move too. The reason why he decided to move is up to whoever plays him.
Stephanie Brenner - Stephanie Brenner is and always will be a 'small town girl'. Even when (if she does) she makes the big time in the Fashion Industry, she still wants to work where her inspiration lies - her home town. A lot of secrets have been suppressed from her, being stowed away in the memory of her grandmother who raised her after the death of her mother and the jailing of her father. Their family has a lot of skeletons in their closet and one day she will learn of them, along with a lot of other things about herself that she does not yet know.
*The Smart Family
The Smart Family have been apart of Avondale Heights for many generations. Their family is very high up in the rankings of society due to their connections within the church and their careers.
Yes, they're a very religious family (and whomever takes them must ensure that they enforce it) and a large one at that. Elise has three sisters and two brothers and to top it all off her grandparents live in the house next door [If anyone feels the aspiration to make them into Characters, go ahead]. So, if there is any wrong doing, they pounce straightaway. They see their family as perfect, that is how the town sees them and that is the way they want it to stay. There are no scandals in their family and that is the way they want to keep it.
Elsie is very proper, one of the elites in the school. A girl from a proper up bringing with no woes, money worries or enemies. In the eyes of others she's an idol, someone to look up to. Her deep dark secret could be something to do with depression, perhaps being abused by her father? Something along those lines.. or even another family member, friend or neighbor. She doesn't like to get close to men, obviously because of this and doesn't have a boyfriend, so some people.. other girls who are jealous, think that she is batting for the other team. Her brother is the jock at school, typical prissy boy who has no intellectual ability whatsoever. Well, he's not stupid, in fact he's quite the handy man. He's more apt to working with his hands than his head, don't get him wrong. He jokes around a lot and people think of him as a do-do off the football field. But he doesn't see things that way.
Their mother is sleeping with the principal in order to keep his grades afloat. Being a religious woman, you'd think she could stick to one man. But it's all for show. She's in the family for the money. Being a doctor you think she could stand on her own two feet, but when her "husband" dies she will inherit three million dollars. Their father is just like his parents, an somewhat stuffy, well-to-do man who believes in the faith and takes pride in ensuring that their family doesn't get a bad reputation.
*The first names of Lily and Matt can be changed by whoever claims them. However, last names must stay the same.
